KUSF is the University of San Francisco's online radio station, broadcasting 24/7 from 2130 Fulton St., San Francisco.
History
KUSF began in 1963 as a campus AM station and became an FM station on 90.3 frequency in 1977. It was known nationally and internationally for innovative programming until 2011, when it transitioned to online-only broadcasting.
The station was historically significant for being among the first to play punk rock and for launching acts like The B-52's and Metallica.
Current Programming
KUSF offers diverse musical genres including rock, hip-hop, world music, R&B, jazz, soul, and eclectic music. The station features a full daily schedule of student and community DJ shows, plus podcasts and interviews.
Purpose
KUSF serves as both a recreation activity and training facility for USF students in Media Studies and other majors. Alumni have gone on to successful careers in radio and music industries.
