When I first came to college I was listening to the same few songs over and over again in hopes that the meanings would shift and become greater when I was finally living independently. Maybe things would have stayed the same if I had let them, but you can't help sometimes getting tired of things you rely on too much.

Today marks the second to last show here at the station. Blame it on my personality's disposition towards nostalgia or me being in limbo between university and the so-called "real life" everyone has been talking about, but today I felt different about the music I played.

The artists that had released music when I first entered college have recently come out with new singles and EPs that sound different, maybe more mature than their old stuff. And that's normal with the progression of artists, and the content they make as time goes by in general. But I can't help but feel some semblance of conflict comparing the songs I know and love to the more matured and maybe less mainstream-y versions of them in the present.

I was able to look back at my archived content a while back and I really seemed to enjoy the same few albums. Old favorites like Arcade Fire, Solange, and Blood Orange decorated the lists of songs that were posted frequently. 

I won't say that those habits will die out in the near future, but today I tried to create a mix of songs from artists that have recently brought out new exciting content that might take a bit longer to warm up to.

Some releases I've liked recently: Kaytranda, Lykki Li, Omar Apollo, Tierra Whack.
