Blue and Sentimental: Episode 02

Tonight's show is dedicated to one of the most talented musicians of the 20th century, Miles Davis. Miles Davis is my personal favorite musician and his music was a key inspiration for me to learn to play the trumpet.

For tonight's show, I am playing some of my favorite recordings of his ranging from his very first sessions as a bandleader in 1945 to 1968. My personal favorite jazz album of all time is his seminal work Kind of Blue and tonight's selections includes the famous "So What." In a book about the recording of the album, Jimmy Cobb, drummer for the Kind of Blue sessions, said "It must have been made in heaven." He was right and I hope you enjoy tonight's songs.

If you are interested in listening to these recordings on your respective streaming services, I have made playlists available on both Spotify and Apple Music. The playlist on Spotify can be found by clicking here. The playlist on Apple Music can be found by clicking here.
